Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Operation Sindoor stated that war is always uncertain. Citing the Russia-Ukraine war as an example, he highlighted the importance of low-cost high-tech weapons. ISRO satellites provided real-time intelligence during this operation.
New Delhi. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi made a statement on the challenges and experiences gained during Operation Sindoor. He said that predicting the duration of a war is always difficult. During the Russia-Ukraine war, initially, no one had an estimate of how long it would last. In Operation Sindoor as well, the army initially did not know how many days the mission would take.
Uncertainty in War and the Importance of Resources
General Dwivedi explained that war is always uncertain and it is necessary to have a long-term strategy prepared for it. He said, "When Russia started the war, we thought it would only last for 10 days. The Iran-Iraq war lasted for about 10 years. In Operation Sindoor too, initially, no one had an idea when it would end."
The Power of Low-Cost Weapons
General Dwivedi stated that expensive weapons are not always decisive. Low-cost high-tech weapons can also defeat the enemy in David versus Goliath-like situations. He explained that it is important to understand the enemy's technology and psychological impact. Adequate availability of resources should be ensured for prolonged campaigns.
Role of ISRO's Satellites
ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan stated that all satellites remained active 24/7 during Operation Sindoor. They assisted the army with real-time intelligence and surveillance. With the help of satellites, attacks were precise, and the mission was successful.
Strategy in Future Wars
General Dwivedi said that low-cost high-tech weapons and space technology will prove decisive in future wars. He stated that Operation Sindoor proved that the right combination of technology and strategy is the key to success.
The Story of David Versus Goliath
The General cited the example of the story of David versus Goliath. According to the Bible, the weaker party, David, defeated the giant warrior Goliath with just a stone and a sling. This story symbolizes the unexpected victory of the underdog.
