Ashok Gehlot's recent statement on the Manesar incident has stirred up Rajasthan politics. He stated that the conspiracy to topple the government in 2020 was 'not theoretical but practical' and that receiving an FIR does not end the case.
Jaipur: Ashok Gehlot's statement has once again caused a stir in Rajasthan politics. Reacting to the Manesar incident and the alleged conspiracy to destabilize the government in 2020, the former Chief Minister said that in any case, receiving an FR (Final Report) does not close the case. Gehlot termed it a 'practical rather than theoretical conspiracy' and also cited the court's non-rejection of the FR.
Gehlot's Statement on FIR
Ashok Gehlot clarified that the court issuing an FR regarding the alleged conspiracy to destabilize the government in 2020 does not mean the case is over. He stated, "The court has not rejected the FR, and the practical circumstances of the case cannot be ignored. In any case, receiving an FR does not automatically terminate a criminal case."
The former Chief Minister also said that the purpose of his remarks is not to explain the matter from a political perspective, but to state that the attempt to topple the government occurred in a real rather than theoretical sense. He believes it is essential to analyze facts and events correctly.
2020 Manesar Incident
The Manesar incident in 2020 was a major event in Rajasthan politics. At that time, Sachin Pilot and his 18 supporting MLAs rebelled and went to Manesar. During this period, the then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot accused Sachin Pilot and others of attempting to destabilize the government and indulging in horse-trading of MLAs.
The Rajasthan High Court entrusted the Special Operation Group and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) with the responsibility of investigating the matter. After the investigation, the court gave a clean chit to Sachin Pilot, Bharat Malani, and Ashok Singh. The court accepted the ACB's closure report and stated that no concrete evidence was found to support the allegations.
Sachin Pilot and MLAs' Manesar Rebellion
Many prominent names were among the MLAs who went to Manesar in 2020. The rebellion of these MLAs created a crisis for the then state government. This move by Sachin Pilot and his supporters led to political upheaval at that time.
Gehlot stated that the entire sequence of events involved a practical conspiracy, which cannot be viewed merely theoretically. He added that despite the court accepting the FR, this fact does not change that the incident occurred as a real and serious political crisis.
