Close Contest in Kerala's Nilambur Constituency

Voting began at 7:00 AM today for the Nilambur assembly constituency by-election in Kerala. Polling commenced at the Government Lower Primary School in Veetikkuth, Nilambur, following a mock poll. Three major parties are contesting this seat. The ruling LDF (Left Democratic Front) has nominated M. Swaraj, while the Congress-led UDF (United Democratic Front) has fielded Aryadan Shoukat. The BJP has nominated Advocate Mohan George. The seat fell vacant following the death of the Congress MLA.

Fierce Competition in Punjab's Ludhiana West

Voting is also underway in the Ludhiana West assembly constituency. Polling began at 7:00 AM at one polling station following a mock poll. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has nominated Sanjeev Arora, while the Congress has fielded its senior leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu. The BJP has nominated Jeevan Gupta, and the Shiromani Akali Dal has nominated Parupkar Singh Ghuman. This Ludhiana seat became vacant after the resignation of the Congress MLA. A close contest is expected between the AAP and the Congress.

BJP and TMC Face-off in West Bengal's Kaliaganj

Voting is also underway for the Kaliaganj assembly constituency by-election in West Bengal. Presiding officer Pradyut Mallik at polling station number 171, located at the Debagram DK Girls High School, reported that all necessary arrangements and adequate security measures are in place. There are a total of 1174 registered voters in this constituency. Polling is proceeding peacefully after the mock poll.

A three-cornered contest is underway in Kaliaganj. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has nominated Alifa Ahmed, the BJP has fielded Ashish Ghosh, and the Congress has nominated Kabil Uddin Sheikh. The seat fell vacant following the death of the TMC MLA.

By-elections in Two Gujarat Constituencies

By-elections are being held today in two Gujarat assembly constituencies – Visavadar and Kardi. The main contest is between the BJP and the Congress in both constituencies. In Visavadar, the BJP has fielded a veteran party member, while the Congress has nominated a young leader. In Kardi, besides the BJP and Congress, the AAP is also present, making it a three-cornered contest. Both seats fell vacant following the resignation or death of BJP MLAs.

Election Commission Makes Robust Security Arrangements

The Election Commission has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure peaceful and fair voting across all five constituencies. Security forces have been deployed at all polling stations, and sensitive areas are under constant surveillance. CCTV cameras and live monitoring are also in place at polling stations.

Results on June 23rd

The voting process in these five assembly constituencies will conclude this evening. Ballot boxes and EVMs will then be securely sealed and kept in b rooms. The counting of votes for these by-elections will take place on June 23rd, 2025, and the results will be declared on the same day.
