Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gifted Agra a modern and planned residential project, inaugurating the ‘Atal Puram Township’ on Tuesday. This township, spread over 340 acres, is considered the largest residential scheme of the Agra Development Authority (ADA) to date. It includes 1430 residential plots, 18 group housing plots, and 96 commercial plots. The inauguration ceremony was held in the Commissioner's Auditorium, where the Chief Minister described the project as the foundation of the city's future.
This township is being developed at the triangular confluence of Agra Inner Ring Road, Southern Bypass, and Gwalior Road, which is expected to greatly improve the area's connectivity and utility. The Chief Minister said that this project will not only meet residential needs but will also reshape regional development and the city's image.
Acquisition with Farmers' Consent
The most unique aspect of the Atal Puram scheme is that land acquisition was not done through traditional methods, but rather land was purchased from farmers based on mutual consent. Farmers were compensated four times the circle rate for their land, resulting in a land acquisition cost of approximately ₹784 crore. This is considered an example of the state government's farmer-friendly thinking and transparent development policy. Experts say that this model can become an ideal for future projects.
Development in Three Phases
This mega project will be developed in three phases and 11 sectors. The township will provide facilities like underground utility systems, a sewerage network, a water treatment plant (WTP), wide roads, and green areas, making it emerge as a smart and environment-sensitive project.
Along with this, full attention has been paid to safety and public facilities. A police station, fire station, and an international-level convention center are also proposed in the township. An additional investment of approximately ₹731 crore will be made in smart infrastructure in the second phase of the scheme.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, describing Atal Puram as the 'foundation of future New Agra,' has termed it a historic step in the direction of the city's overall and balanced development.
