Australia Equals India's T20 World Cup Record in Thrilling Win Against West Indies

Australia has equaled India's record in the T20 World Cup by successfully chasing a 200+ run target for the seventh consecutive time after defeating West Indies. Australia will break India's record by winning the last match.

WI vs AUS 4th T20: The fourth T20 match played in St. Kitts has taken the Australian cricket team to a new height. With a 3-wicket victory against West Indies, Australia has not only won the series 4-0 but also achieved a record that until now only India held.

An Exciting Journey of the Match

After losing the toss and batting first, the West Indies team scored 205 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The opening batsmen for the home team made a good start, but the Australian bowlers made a comeback in the middle overs. Nevertheless, thanks to power hitting, West Indies was able to cross the 200 mark. In reply, the Australian team started batting aggressively. Cameron Green and Josh Inglis scored brilliant half-centuries. On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell played an explosive innings of 47 runs off just 18 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 1 four. Due to this stormy innings, Australia achieved the target in 19.2 overs.

Equaling the World Record

With this win, Australia has claimed the world record for chasing 200+ runs the most times in T20 cricket. Until now, this record was held only by India.

  1. India - 7 times
  2. Australia - 7 times
  3. South Africa - 5 times
  4. Bulgaria - 5 times
  5. Pakistan - 4 times

If Australia wins the next, i.e., the fifth T20 match and achieves a target of more than 200 runs, they will leave India behind and become the sole owner of this record.

India's Record at Risk

The Indian cricket team had maintained its dominance on this achievement for a long time. But looking at Australia's current form and West Indies' weak bowling attack, it would not be wrong to say that India's record is now in serious danger. According to cricket analysts, the way Australia is showing aggressive play, they can achieve a 200+ target in the upcoming match as well.

Glenn Maxwell - Game Changer

Glenn Maxwell played the most important role in Australia's victory. His innings changed the course of the match. The pressure on the team increased due to the early fall of two wickets. But Maxwell decided to bat aggressively without wasting time. His innings made it clear that he was completely confident of winning. Because of this, he has been selected as the 'Player of the Match'.

West Indies' Struggle

This series has been very disappointing for West Indies so far. After losing the Test series 3-0, they have now faced a 4-0 defeat in the T20 series as well. Despite having the advantage of playing at home, the team is not getting balanced performance from its bowlers as well as batsmen. Now their only goal is to win the last match of the series and save face.

Australia's Domination Continues

The Australian cricket team has been consistently performing bly in every format for the last few months. After a clean sweep in the Test series, they now want to repeat it in the T20 series as well. The team's batting order is b down to the depths, there is variety in bowling, and fielding has always been their plus point. This is the reason why a team like West Indies is not able to give a major challenge even at home.
