Australia Suffers Major Blow: Star All-Rounder Grace Harris Ruled Out of ICC Women's World Cup 2025

The ICC Women's World Cup 2025, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will commence on September 30. This will be the 13th edition of the World Cup, where defending champions Australia will aim to retain their title.

Sports News: Ahead of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025, the Australian women's cricket team has suffered a major setback. The defending champions' key all-rounder Grace Harris has been ruled out of the entire World Cup due to an injury. This tournament will kick off on September 30, 2025, with India and Sri Lanka as joint hosts. This will be the 13th edition of the Women's World Cup.

Australia is set to defend its title as the reigning champions. The team will begin its campaign on October 1 against New Zealand in Indore.

Grace Harris's Injury and World Cup Withdrawal

Grace Harris sustained an injury during the third and final ODI against India, played on September 20, 2025. She experienced a calf strain while fielding during the Indian innings. Due to the severity of the injury, her full recovery may take a long time, and therefore, she will not be able to participate in the World Cup 2025.

In the third ODI, Australia secured a 2-1 series victory against India. Grace's performance in that match was crucial for the team, but her absence now may force the team to alter its strategy.

Grace Harris's Contribution

Grace Harris is known for her explosive batting and all-round capabilities. Her ability to hit big shots, especially in the lower order, makes her a strength for the team. Her key career statistics are as follows:

  • In 54 T20I matches: 577 runs, strike rate 155.52
  • In 12 ODI matches: 12 wickets
  • 21 international wickets in off-spin bowling

Harris's absence could be challenging for Australia, as she possesses the ability to change the game in the lower order. 28-year-old Heather Graham has now been included in the team as a replacement for Grace Harris. Graham has played in Western Australia's Women's National Cricket League matches and will now join the team in India.

Heather Graham is a fast-bowling all-rounder. She has played 6 international matches to date and has taken 9 wickets. This marks her return to ODIs after a long time, with her last ODI match played in October 2019.
