Bank branches across India are operating normally on Saturday, with no nationwide banking holiday in effect. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s bank holiday calendar, the day falls on the first Saturday of June, making it a regular working day for both public and private sector banks.
Customers can access routine banking services at branches, including cash deposits and withdrawals, cheque clearance, passbook updates, and other standard banking transactions during regular business hours.
Under RBI regulations, banks do not remain closed on every Saturday. Bank branches are shut only on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, while the first, third, and fifth Saturdays are designated as working days. As the current day is the first Saturday of the month, banking operations are continuing as usual across the country.

Bank holidays in India are categorized into three broad groups: national holidays such as Republic Day, Independence Day, and Gandhi Jayanti; state-specific holidays based on regional festivals and local observances; and weekly holidays, which include Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. The framework is designed to ensure the orderly functioning of banking services while minimizing disruption for customers.
Bank customers planning a branch visit on Sunday should note that all public and private sector bank branches across India will remain closed as part of the weekly holiday schedule.
However, digital banking services will remain available throughout the weekend. Customers can continue using UPI transactions, mobile banking applications, internet banking services, ATM cash withdrawals, and online bill payment facilities without interruption, even when bank branches are closed.
