Bihar Elections: Jehanabad-Makhdumpur Seat Faces Intense Political Showdown with New Entrants

Political contest intensifies for Jehanabad-Makhdumpur seat in Bihar Assembly 2025. Competition between RJD and NDA, with new faces and Jan Suraaj Party adding to the intrigue. Ticket allocation and seat-sharing strategies are underway.

Bihar Election: The atmosphere for the Bihar Assembly elections is gradually heating up, and the politics of Jehanabad is set to be extremely interesting this time. All three assembly seats in the district – Jehanabad, Ghosi, and Makhdumpur – are currently held by the opposition Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan). However, the dynamics this time will not be limited to just familiar faces. The contest has become even more exciting with the entry of new faces and a new party like Jan Suraaj.

Direct Contest Between NDA and Mahagathbandhan

Similar to previous elections, the main contest this time is likely to be between the ruling NDA and the opposition Mahagathbandhan. However, the Jan Suraaj Party is also preparing to make its presence felt this time. In such a scenario, vote division could be a cause for concern for both major alliances.

History of Jehanabad Seat

In the 2020 assembly elections, Krishnanandan Prasad Verma of JDU (Janata Dal (United)) was in the fray for the Jehanabad seat. He was up against Kumar Krishan Mohan alias Suday Yadav from RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal). Suday Yadav registered victory for the second consecutive time, inflicting a crushing defeat on JDU.
Furthermore, in the 2018 by-election, RJD's Suday Yadav and JDU's Abhiram Sharma faced each other, but RJD emerged victorious. In that election, RJD had won by a margin of approximately 35,000 votes.

NDA Learning from Consecutive Defeats

Two consecutive defeats have compelled the NDA to devise a new strategy to retain the seat this time. According to party sources, a plan for seat redistribution (seat sharing) or giving an opportunity to a new face is being prepared. Both JDU and HAM (Hindustani Awam Morcha) are gearing up to field new candidates in the electoral battle.

Potential Contenders from NDA

While no official claim has been made for the Makhdumpur seat from the NDA yet, the names of two leaders are being widely discussed.

Niranjan Keshav Prince (JDU) – He has been associated with JDU for the past six years and is considered an active leader within the party. His social contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic were highly appreciated.

Channu Sharma (HAM) – He has been with the party since 2014 and holds a b grip in grassroots politics.

Both leaders have expressed that if given a ticket, they can create a new history of victory.

Contest within RJD for Tickets

The Makhdumpur seat is with the Mahagathbandhan, and currently, RJD MLA Satish Das represents the constituency. However, this time, a tough competition is expected within the party for the ticket.
RJD leaders Sanju Kohli and Kumari Suman Siddharth are in the running for the ticket. Both are considered to have a b grassroots connection and have played active roles in the party organization.

Previous Election Results

In the 2020 elections, RJD's Satish Das defeated HAM's Devendra Kumar by a margin of 22,565 votes. This victory demonstrates the Mahagathbandhan's b hold on the Makhdumpur seat, but the NDA is also gearing up to rectify its past mistakes.

Will the Entry of a New Party Change the Dynamics?

This time, the Jan Suraaj Party is also preparing to enter the electoral arena in Jehanabad. This new party could lead to a division of votes and directly impact the results. Jan Suraaj claims to have brought a different model of politics (new model of politics) from traditional politics and will offer a choice to the public.
