Last Updated: 3 hour ago

In Bihar Election 2025, two brothers from Shivhar district contested elections from different parties. The contest between BJP's Rana Randhir in Madhuban and AIIMIM's Rana Ranjit in Dhaka became interesting. Owaisi fielded Ranjit.

Bihar Election 2025: In Bihar's Shivhar district, the two sons of former minister late Sitaram Singh are pursuing different political paths in this assembly election. The elder son, Er. Rana Randhir Singh, is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Madhuban assembly constituency and is contesting from this seat for the third consecutive time. Meanwhile, the younger son, Rana Ranjit Singh, has been fielded by All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi from the Dhaka assembly constituency against the BJP. This time, both brothers are contesting elections from different parties, making the electoral battle in both assembly constituencies extremely interesting.

Elder Son Rana Randhir Singh's Strong Hold

In the Madhuban assembly constituency, Er. Rana Randhir Singh has a b hold within the BJP. He has won elections two times consecutively and has also served as a minister in the state government. His political image and experience make him a prominent candidate in the Madhuban region. This time too, he is in the fray on a BJP ticket and is trying to maintain his b position against the opposition.

Younger Son Rana Ranjit Singh's Entry into AIIMIM

The younger son, Rana Ranjit Singh, is contesting elections for the first time on an AIIMIM ticket. He filed his nomination from the Dhaka assembly constituency and, starting his campaign, spoke of walking alongside his supporters wearing a 'tilak' on his forehead, a white cap on his head, and a red 'gamcha' around his neck. Ranjit's move is seen as an attempt by AIIMIM to gain a foothold in Bihar, and it also presents a challenge to the BJP.

Paths Diverged in Lok Sabha Elections

Political observers state that earlier, both brothers worked on the same political platform, but their paths diverged in the last Lok Sabha elections. Rana Randhir Singh campaigned in favor of JDU candidate Lovely Anand, while Rana Ranjit tried his luck on behalf of AIIMIM from the Shivhar parliamentary seat in the same election. At that time, Ranjit was not successful, but this time he stands against BJP MLA Pawan Jaiswal in the Dhaka assembly constituency.

Legacy Inherited from Father's Politics

Late Sitaram Singh was a resident of Banjaria village in Madhuban and a prominent leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He continuously held the position of MLA for the Madhuban assembly constituency from 1985 to 2004 and also served as a minister multiple times in the Bihar government. In 2004, he achieved the distinction of becoming a Member of Parliament by winning the Shivhar Lok Sabha seat. After his demise, the elder son, Er. Rana Randhir, joined the BJP and became an MLA. The younger son, Rana Ranjit, also followed the path of politics, but now he has taken a different direction from his brother.

Electoral Battle in Two Assembly Constituencies

In the current scenario, the distinct political identities and party strengths of both brothers in the Madhuban and Dhaka assembly constituencies have made the election even more interesting. Despite BJP's b hold in Madhuban, the entry of AIIMIM candidate Ranjit Singh in Dhaka could alter the electoral equations.
