Rahul Gandhi accused PM Modi of leaving crucial decisions regarding Operation Sindoor and oil purchases from Russia to America. He stated that Modi is jeopardizing India's sovereignty in the face of Trump's claims.
New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi following a claim by US President Donald Trump. Trump had stated that Prime Minister Modi personally assured him that India would no longer buy oil from Russia. Rahul Gandhi alleged that Modi is afraid of Trump and has outsourced India's crucial foreign policy to the USA, raising questions about the country's energy security and sovereignty.
Response to Trump's Claim
During a conversation with journalists at the White House, the US President said, ''He (Modi) is a very good friend of mine. I am happy that he assured me that India will no longer buy oil from Russia. This is a big step. Now we will try to take the same step with China.'' Following this claim, Rahul Gandhi wrote on the social media platform X (X) that Prime Minister Modi has allowed America to decide that India will not buy oil from Russia.
Rahul Gandhi's Allegations
Rahul Gandhi stated that despite repeated criticism, Prime Minister Modi continues to send messages of praise to Trump. He added that the Finance Minister's visit to America was canceled, the Prime Minister did not participate in the Sharm el-Sheikh (Gaza Peace Summit), and Trump's claim regarding Operation Sindoor was not refuted.
Prime Minister Modi Outsourced to America
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh claimed that it appears Prime Minister Modi has outsourced major decisions to America. He stated that on May 10, 2025, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio first announced that India had halted Operation Sindoor. Subsequently, President Trump claimed 51 times in various countries that he intervened to stop Operation Sindoor through tariffs and trade pressure.
