Preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections in 2025 are in full swing. All parties are working hard to gain public support. This election is considered particularly significant as new political equations are emerging in the state's political landscape.
Nawada: All political parties have launched their campaign efforts with full force for the Bihar Assembly elections. Every party hopes to receive the blessings of the public. However, this time, several new faces and changes are being observed in the state's politics. On one hand, political strategist Prashant Kishor's new party, Jan Suraj, has entered the fray, which could alter the electoral dynamics.
On the other hand, Tej Pratap Yadav, expelled from RJD, is also putting his all into contesting the elections. This election is set to be even more intriguing as the contest between traditional parties and new players will make the public's decision more interesting.
Political Equations on the Nawada Seat
The Nawada seat is one of the 243 assembly seats in Bihar. Elections here have always been interesting. In the last two elections (2015 and 2020), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won this seat. Prior to that, this seat was held by the Janata Dal (United) (JDU). This is why the contest could be even more fiercely contested this time.
Nawada's importance has also increased because Prashant Kishor's party "Jan Suraj" is contesting the 2025 elections. Furthermore, Tej Pratap Yadav, expelled from RJD, is also investing all his efforts to strengthen his political base.
2020 Election Results
- In the 2020 assembly elections, Vibha Devi of RJD won the Nawada seat. She secured a total of 72,435 votes.
- Independent candidate Shravan Kumar came in second place, receiving 46,125 votes.
- Kaushal Yadav of JDU secured the third position with 34,567 votes.
- In this election, NOTA also received 2,930 votes, which was a significant number in itself.
2015 Election Results
- In 2015, Raj Ballabh Prasad of RJD won the Nawada seat. He received a total of 88,235 votes.
- Indradeo Prasad of the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) came in second, securing 71,509 votes.
- Independent candidate Sudhir Kumar was in third place with only 2,435 votes.
- These figures clearly indicate that RJD has had dominance over the Nawada seat in the last two assembly elections.
What to Expect in 2025?
Based on past results, RJD appears to be in a b position. However, the situation could be different this time. JDU will try to make a comeback, aiming to overcome their 2020 defeat. BJP will also enter the fray with its own strategy for this seat and will hope for victory with the support of the NDA. The entry of the Jan Suraj party into the assembly elections for the first time could lead to a division of new vote banks.
Tej Pratap Yadav's independent political campaign could potentially cut into RJD's vote share. All these factors make the 2025 Nawada election highly interesting. The people of Bihar have consistently voted based on issues such as development, employment, and education. In the Nawada seat as well, the public will be looking at which party can address their fundamental needs.
