During the special intensive revision campaign for the voter list, the voter verification process is becoming a challenge for many. In one such case, Mo. Yaqub, calling from Mithanpura ward number 37, shared his problem, highlighting the complexities of this process.
Muzaffarpur: As part of the preparations for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, a special intensive revision of the voter list is underway with great vigor, but during this time, common voters are facing many difficulties. Errors in names, discrepancies in documents, and unnecessary demands for residential certificates – such issues are increasing the confusion among the public.
One Name, Two Identities! Voters in Trouble
Mo. Yaqub from Mithanpura's ward number 37 called to share his problem. According to him, his name on the Aadhaar card is 'Baccha Bharti,' while his name is recorded as 'Mo. Yaqub' on his passport and his wife's voter ID card. Now, there is confusion about which document to upload during voter verification. Yaqub is a qawwal by profession and has been using both names. But this time, due to the difference in names in the verification process, his voter ID seems to be in future jeopardy.
No Census Form Received, Fear of Name Being Deleted
Poonam Devi from Kacchi Pakki said that her husband received the census form, but she and her son, Neeraj, have not yet received it. We fear that our names may be removed from the voter list. No one explained the form-filling process either. This fear is further heightened because the form is only being given to those whose names are on the list.
Residential Certificate Becomes a Headache
Deepak Bhagat from Raghunathpur, Kudhni, said that local officials have made the residential certificate mandatory, whereas the government has not mandated it. Cyber cafe owners are demanding ₹200-₹250 for the certificate. There is chaos in the village. In this situation, rural voters are being cheated, and they are being prevented from filling the form due to lack of information.
What Did the Administration Say?
- District Deputy Election Officer Satyapriya Kumar clarified:
- All voters will definitely receive the census form.
- Residential certificate is not mandatory.
- If there is a difference in the name on someone's documents, then upload the passport or other authorized document, which is valid in the Election Commission's list.
He also said that, if the names are the same and correct in the passports of husband and wife, then use the same documents for the correction of the voter list. If you are also struggling with any kind of problem in voter list verification, you can call mobile number 9801027107 to share your problem.
