Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, YouTuber and social activist Manish Kashyap has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Patna: Bihar's political landscape is once again abuzz, this time with YouTuber-turned-politician Manish Kashyap, whose resignation from the BJP has sent shockwaves through the state's politics. He announced his resignation via a Facebook Live video, emotionally appealing directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Bihar. Kashyap's move is considered significant in the lead-up to the Bihar Assembly elections.
During the Facebook Live session, his tone was not merely political but deeply personal and socially concerned. He stated that, unable to help the people while within the party, he must now fight from the grassroots level.
Modi Ji, Please Work a Miracle: An Emotional Plea
Throughout his live video, Manish Kashyap repeatedly appealed to Prime Minister Modi, urging him, "Modi Ji, please work a miracle, please visit Bihar once." He spread out a gamcha (traditional towel) symbolically requesting the Prime Minister's visit to assess the state of healthcare, education, employment, and migration issues.
He urged the PM to visit Patna University and a government hospital to assess the situation firsthand. He acknowledged the government's work on roads and electricity but stressed the need to question issues like toll taxes, fuel prices, and the high cost of electricity.
Sarcastically, Manish questioned why toll taxes are levied on white number plates in Bihar but not in Gujarat, and why petrol and diesel are most expensive in Bihar. These questions constituted an indirect attack on BJP policies.
Hints at Political Future: Seeking a 'Brand Bihar'
Manish Kashyap made it clear he would not remain silent. He will continue to be the voice of the people, but perhaps now outside the confines of a political party. He indicated he is searching for a new platform or might launch his own political movement, asking the public where he should contest elections – whether joining a party or running independently.
This statement clearly reflects Kashyap's political ambitions; he aims to establish himself as an independent and decisive figure in Bihar's politics. He expressed his desire to champion a "Brand Bihar," prioritizing healthcare, education, employment, and security.
To Dismantle NDA Strongholds: A Bold Claim, a Direct Challenge
Manish Kashyap made a bold claim regarding the NDA's bholds in Champaran and Mithila, asserting he will dismantle their influence in these regions. He directly attacked Bihar's Health Minister, Mangal Pandey, stating that the death of a girl in Muzaffarpur could have been prevented if the minister had shown any seriousness.
He also alleged widespread irregularities in Bihar's health department, promising to expose them soon. Kashyap clarified that his fight is not against any individual but against the weak and corrupt system that neglects the basic needs of the people.
Self-Sacrifice or Political Strategy?
Manish Kashyap repeatedly stated that despite his dedicated service to the party, he was dismissed as merely ambitious. He insisted he is not ambitious but a conscious citizen striving for a better system for his state. Whether his decision was purely emotional or strategically political is unclear. However, it's evident he has begun to establish himself as an independent political voice ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
