Bird Flu Scare Cuts Dehradun's Egg Business in Half

Due to the threat of bird flu, the egg business in Dehradun has been reduced to almost half. People are now significantly reducing their purchases of eggs and chicken. However, this has not affected prices in the city, as despite the decline in demand, the inflow has also decreased due to restrictions.

Dehradun: The outbreak of bird flu (Avian Influenza) in Uttarakhand has increased concerns among both traders and the general public. Its impact is particularly visible on the egg and chicken business. People have reduced their purchases of these products due to fear of safety, which has affected the sale of eggs and meat in Dehradun and surrounding areas.

Egg and Chicken Business Reduced by Half

In Dehradun, the supply of eggs mainly comes from outside states. Previously, approximately 8,000 to 10,000 trays of eggs were received here daily, but after the threat of bird flu, this number has decreased to 4,000 to 5,000 trays. Local egg trader Sanjay Chauhan said, "Earlier, our city used to receive a supply of 8 to 10 thousand trays of eggs every day. Now, after the bird flu news, the inflow has been reduced to almost half."

A similar decline is being seen in the chicken business. People have become cautious about their health, and demand has decreased in the market. Although the demand for eggs and chicken has decreased, no major impact has been seen on prices in the city. The reason for this is that the inflow has also decreased due to restrictions, which has maintained a balance between supply and demand.

Concern Among Consumers

Fear has increased among the general public regarding bird flu. People are becoming health-conscious and reducing their purchases of eggs and chicken. This step has been taken to prevent infection, but it is causing financial loss to traders. A local customer said, "We have reduced the purchase of eggs and chicken for the last few days. It is necessary to take precautions in view of the threat of bird flu."

Bird flu has also increased the concern of people in Uttar Pradesh, which borders Uttarakhand. The supply of eggs and chicken has also been affected there. Experts say that the decline in the purchase of eggs and chicken can help prevent the spread of infection, but it is challenging for traders.
