A key meeting was held in New Delhi to discuss the election of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s next national president. The party’s election committee deliberated on the procedure and timeline for conducting the election.
The meeting took place on Tuesday at the BJP headquarters in the national capital. According to party sources, the primary objective was to finalise the process for the national president’s election. The party leadership conveyed that the election should be conducted strictly in accordance with the party constitution and completed in a transparent and time-bound manner.
The meeting was attended by the convenor of the committee constituted for the national president’s election, K. Laxman. Co-convenors Sambit Patra and Naresh Bansal were also present. The committee discussed procedural formalities, timelines, and organisational coordination related to the election process. Sources said the focus was on ensuring that the process proceeds smoothly and without ambiguity at any stage.
According to sources, the meeting placed particular emphasis on determining when the election would be announced and the duration within which the entire process would be completed. The party leadership indicated that the process should not be prolonged so that organisational activities are not affected. Serious deliberations were held on fixing the timeline, and an official schedule may be announced by the party in the near future.

Senior BJP leaders are closely monitoring developments related to the national president’s election. Sources within the party said the process is being handled with care, given its organisational significance. An official statement or communication from the party is expected following the meeting.
At present, the party is headed by Union minister J.P. Nadda, who has led the BJP through several important elections and organisational changes during his tenure.
In December, the BJP appointed five-time Bihar MLA Nitin Nabin as the party’s working president. The appointment was made by the party as part of its organisational arrangements.
The party leadership has emphasised strengthening the organisational structure, with the election of the national president forming a key part of this process.
