Critical Flaws Related to WebGPU and V8 Engine in Chrome
According to CERT-In, several technical flaws have been found in older versions of Google Chrome. These include side-channel information leakage in WebGPU, video, storage, and tab modules, out-of-bounds reads in the media module, and vulnerabilities in the V8 engine.
The agency stated that any remote attacker could bypass system security using these bugs. This could not only destabilize the device but also cause it to stop functioning entirely. Therefore, it is advised to update Chrome to the latest version immediately.
Multiple Vulnerabilities Also Found in Older Versions of Firefox
Severe security flaws have also been discovered in Mozilla Firefox versions older than 143.0.3 on Windows and Linux systems, and older than 143.1 on iOS. These vulnerabilities include incorrect cookie settings isolation, Integer Overflow in Graphics Canvas2D, and JIT Miscompilation in the JavaScript engine.
CERT-In stated that if a user clicks on a malicious link or web request, hackers could gain control over the device and access sensitive information saved in the browser.
