A case of inhumane treatment of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl studying in a nursery has come to light in the Durg district of Chhattisgarh. Allegedly, the principal of Mother Teresa English Medium School, Ila Evan Kaulvin, first scolded the girl for simply saying "Radhe-Radhe," then beat her, and then taped her mouth shut. This incident occurred in the Bagdumur area under the Nandini police station limits. Following a complaint lodged by the girl's father with the police, the accused principal has been arrested.
Girl's Father Narrates the Entire Incident
The girl's father, Praveen Yadav, stated that the incident took place on Wednesday. When his daughter returned home from school, she was scared and nervous. When the family members asked her the reason, the girl, while crying, said that she had said "Radhe-Radhe" in school, which angered the principal, who scolded her, beat her, and then taped her mouth shut. Seeing the girl's condition, the family members were shocked and immediately filed a complaint at the Nandini police station.
FIR Against School Principal
Station in-charge Paras Singh Thakur stated that a case has been registered against the principal under the relevant sections of the IPC and the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, based on the girl's father's complaint. The accused principal has been arrested and is being interrogated. The police are thoroughly investigating the matter and the school administration may also be questioned.
Questions Raised on School Administration
After the incident, outrage has spread throughout the area. Local people and parents have bly objected to the attitude of the school administration. They say that such strictness with a child of such a young age is not only inhumane but also amounts to mental harassment. People are also saying that suppressing children's religious or emotional expression is a dangerous sign, which needs serious attention from both society and the administration.
This case raises a serious question about the education system, children's rights, and the mistreatment happening in schools.
