The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has uncovered a factory producing counterfeit ghee in Salasar, Churu district. The operation resulted in the seizure of 7500 liters of adulterated ghee, a significant quantity of chemicals, and packaging materials. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
rajasthan: As part of a special campaign against food adulteration in Rajasthan, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has achieved a major success in the Salasar area. A team led by trainee IPS officer and AGTF in-charge, Abhijit Patil, raided a hotel-dhaba complex located near the Shobhasar Pulia on National Highway-58 in Salasar late Thursday night.
Police had received prior information that illegal production of counterfeit ghee was taking place on the premises, intended for use in sweets and other food items.
Ghee Prepared with Chemicals
During the raid, the team observed large-scale ghee production taking place within the hotel complex. The investigation revealed that instead of pure ghee, counterfeit ghee was being manufactured by mixing various chemicals and oils.
The team recovered 17-18 drums, each with a capacity of 200-200 liters, filled with chemicals used in ghee production. Additionally, 17-18 other drums containing suspicious chemicals were also found. Officials stated that these chemicals could be extremely hazardous to health.
7500 Liters of Suspicious Ghee Seized
During the operation, the team seized approximately 7500 liters of counterfeit and suspicious ghee. This ghee was being packed in tins and drums for easy distribution in the market.

Along with this, 414 tin-plated boxes used for ghee packaging were also seized. Preliminary investigations suggest that this counterfeit ghee was being supplied to sweet shops, hotels, and dhabas in surrounding areas.
Playing with Public Health
AGTF in-charge Abhijit Patil stated that samples of the seized ghee and chemicals will be sent to a laboratory for testing. The report will reveal which chemicals were added and the potential serious impact on human health.
The Food Safety Department has also begun investigating the matter. Efforts are underway to determine where this counterfeit ghee was supplied and who was involved.
Possibility of Further Arrests
Officials say this operation is just the beginning. The entire network involved in manufacturing and supplying counterfeit ghee is being investigated. As the investigation progresses, further revelations are likely.
The administration has appealed to the public to be vigilant when purchasing ghee and other food items and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the relevant department.
