New Delhi: India's newly elected Vice President, C.P. Radhakrishnan, will be sworn in as the 15th Vice President of India today, Friday, September 20, 2025. The ceremony will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office and secrecy to him. The ceremony will commence at 10 AM and is expected to be attended by prominent political leaders of the country.

Who will be present at the oath ceremony?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and other Union ministers will be present at the oath-taking ceremony. In addition, leaders from opposition parties have also been invited. Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is also likely to attend the ceremony. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will be present on behalf of Congress. However, Congress leader and key opposition figure Rahul Gandhi will not attend the ceremony as he will be on a visit to Gujarat.

C.P. Radhakrishnan secured victory in the Vice Presidential election held on September 9, 2025, defeating opposition candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy by 152 votes. This election was held after former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his post on July 21, 2025, citing health reasons. Radhakrishnan's victory is being seen as a symbol of better coordination between the central and state governments and political stability.
