Five people died and over 19 were injured in a bus accident in the Kakori area of Lucknow on Thursday night. The out-of-control bus collided with a tanker while trying to avoid a motorcycle and fell into a 45-foot-deep ditch.
Lucknow: A horrific road accident occurred in the Kakori area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday night, resulting in the deaths of 5 people and injuries to over 19 others. The incident occurred when a roadways bus traveling from Hardoi to Lucknow collided with a tanker while trying to evade a motorcycle. The bus lost control and plunged into a ditch approximately 45 feet deep. Severely injured individuals are undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center in Lucknow. The accident sent shockwaves throughout the region.
5 Dead in Bus and Tanker Collision in Kakori
Information was received about a collision between a bus and a tanker near Golakua in Kakori. The bus, en route from Hardoi to Lucknow, collided with a tanker that was sprinkling water on the road at that time. Due to the impact, the bus lost control and fell into the ditch. The road was under construction at the time of the accident, and the absence of streetlights in the area made it difficult for the driver to control the bus in the darkness of the night.
A total of 5 people, including a motorcycle rider, died in the incident. The deceased have been identified as Babu Ram (Pilibhit), Nar Dev (Mathura), Sanjeev (Raipur Jagwan), Dilshad (Budhadiya), and Jagdish (Pilibhit). All the deceased were men. Police stated that the identity of one of the deceased could not be established immediately after the accident.
Over 19 Injured in the Accident
The number of people injured in the accident exceeds 19. These include Irshad Hussain, Anurag, Arvind Kumar Awasthi, Sanjay, Rajesh Maurya, Basant Devi, Sanjeev Prakash Srivastava, and many others. The injured are being treated at the Trauma Center and CHC Malihabad. The condition of two individuals remains critical.
Teams from the police and fire service quickly carried out relief and rescue operations at the accident site. Teams from the Hazratganj and Malihabad fire stations were dispatched to the location. Along with safely transporting the injured to hospitals, efforts were made to ensure the immediate rescue of any passengers trapped inside the bus.
CM Yogi Directs Treatment for the Injured
Immediately after the accident, DM Vishakh G, Police Commissioner Amrendra Singh Sengar, and officials from the transport department reached the accident site. Officials instructed to expedite the rescue operations. CM Yogi Adityanath also took cognizance of the matter and issued directives for the proper treatment of the injured.
The DM stated that the bus collided with the tanker while trying to avoid another vehicle. Initial treatment was provided to the injured at CHC Kakori, while the seriously injured were sent to the Trauma Center. The Police Commissioner said that relief and rescue work is the top priority, and all the injured have been safely transported to the hospital.
Treatment at Trauma Center and Questions on Road Safety
According to KGMU spokesperson Dr. K.K. Singh, a total of 14 injured individuals were brought to the Trauma Center. Of these, 5 have died, and 9 injured are admitted to the hospital. Two of the injured are in critical condition, while the other 7 sustained minor injuries. All the injured have injuries in different parts of their bodies and are undergoing treatment.
The accident has once again highlighted the issues of road safety and the lack of adequate lighting and signage on highways under construction. Officials stated that road safety measures will be strengthened in the future to prevent such accidents.
