New Delhi: A unique case of liquor smuggling in Delhi has surprised everyone. In the capital, the police have exposed a gang that was smuggling liquor using camels, utilizing the routes of the forests of South Delhi. In this operation, five smugglers were arrested, while three camels and 42 boxes of liquor were recovered from their possession.
Liquor Smuggling Using Camels
According to police officials, this gang had been active for a long time and was resorting to camels and deserted forests instead of traditional routes to conceal their illegal activities. The smugglers loaded boxes of liquor onto the backs of camels and transported them to safe locations through forests and trails at night.
Officials explain that camels were used because their presence is considered normal, and police or patrolling parties would not suspect anything. This method was so clever that smugglers often managed to escape capture with ease.
Police Apprehended the Smugglers
The police were continuously receiving secret information, based on which a special team was formed. The team closely monitored the gang's activities and took action at the opportune moment, apprehending all five accused. Three camels and 42 boxes of liquor were recovered at the time of arrest.
Senior police officials stated that interrogation of the accused is ongoing to ascertain how long they have been involved in this illegal business and the extent of their network. Investigations are also underway to identify individuals who were assisting them in this smuggling operation.
Strong Network of Smugglers
According to officials, this gang meticulously studied local areas and forests to strengthen its network. The smugglers' objective was to ensure the liquor consignment reached its destination without any hindrance. The use of camels was beneficial for them, as camels are commonly seen in sandy and rural areas, thereby reducing suspicion.
This method of smuggling is different and unique from any case reported in the capital so far. Police officials have termed it a significant success, as it proves that smugglers possess the capability to operate in a well-planned manner.
