A district-level committee will be formed for the conservation of the rare Black Buck (Kala Hiran).

The District Magistrate (DM) will chair this committee.

The Chief Development Officer (CDO), Secretary, and Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) will serve as member secretaries. Officials from other departments such as Environment, Irrigation, Public Works, Police, District Panchayat Raj Officer (DPRO), District Development Officer (DDO), Electricity, and Tourism will also be members.

Reserve Area to be Expanded

The Black Buck Conservation Reserve located in Chand Khamariya, Meja, currently spans 126 hectares.

It will be expanded to 184 hectares.

For this expansion, the Forest Department will incorporate village common land (Gram Samaj land).

Staffing and Monitoring System to be Strengthened

The number of staff in the reserve will be increased—from 4 to 14 staff members will be deployed.

Watchtowers will be installed; facilities for monitoring with binoculars will be provided.

A grand gate will be constructed at the entry point (connecting road) on the Kohdar Ghatkheeri route, and roads will be repaired.

Plan to Introduce New Deer Species

The following species will be brought from Velavadar Black Buck National Park in Gujarat: Chinkara, Chital, Chousingha, Barasingha, and Sambar.

Through this, efforts will be made to increase the deer population and strengthen biodiversity.
