EPFO Launches 'Passbook Lite' for Simplified PF Access and Direct Annexure K Download

EPFO has launched a single login portal named ‘Passbook Lite’, allowing members to view their PF balance, contributions, withdrawals, and other key services in one place. Now, Annexure K PDF can also be downloaded directly. This initiative has been taken to improve member experience and make processes faster and more transparent.

Passbook Lite: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a new single login portal, ‘Passbook Lite’, enabling members to access their PF contributions, balance, withdrawals, and other services in a simple and concise manner with a single login. Under the new system, members can now directly download the Annexure K PDF, which will enhance the transparency and speed of PF transfers and service records. This improvement is a significant step towards enhancing member experience and making EPFO's processes more transparent, faster, and more effective.

Passbook Lite: Simple and Fast Facility

Through the Passbook Lite portal, members can now easily view information about their PF contributions, withdrawals, and balance. According to PIB, this facility provides information in a simple and concise format. Users will now avoid the hassle of visiting a separate passbook portal. Nevertheless, members can still use the old passbook portal to view detailed and graphical information.

EPFO's objective with this step is to enhance the user experience. Passbook Lite will not only provide convenience to members but also reduce the load on the old portal and increase operational efficiency. This will make the digital experience of Employees' Provident Fund services more seamless and faster.

Online Annexure K Download Facility

When employees change jobs, their PF account is transferred to the new employer's PF office. Until now, the Transfer Certificate (Annexure K) generated after a transfer was only shared between PF offices. Members could only obtain it upon request. Under the new system, members can now directly download the Annexure K PDF from the Member Portal.

The facility to download Annexure K PDF comes with several benefits. It includes an option to track the status of transfer applications online, which increases transparency. It confirms that the PF balance and service period are correctly updated in the new account. A permanent digital record will be available for future EPS benefits. This initiative will also enhance trust and transparency in EPFO processes.

Improvements in Approval Process

Previously, services like PF transfers, settlements, advances, and refunds required approval from higher authorities (RPFC/Officer-in-Charge) at multiple levels. This often led to delays in processes. Now, EPFO has made the approval system simpler and more effective. Powers previously held by RPFCs have been delegated to Assistant PF Commissioners and lower-level officers.

This improvement has enabled faster settlement of claims. Processing time has reduced, and service delivery has improved. Accountability at the regional office level has increased, leading to improved member satisfaction. The simplified approval process has made EPFO's services even more transparent and member-centric.

Enhanced Member Experience

With Passbook Lite and the new approval system, members can now quickly and easily access information about their PF account. Members can now ascertain their contributions, withdrawals, and balance information without wasting time. The new Annexure K download feature has also increased convenience for employees changing jobs. These services are now available digitally, anytime and anywhere.

This move by EPFO has not only increased convenience for members but also brought efficiency to the organization's operations. This initiative will prove beneficial for both employees and employers. Improvements linked to digital platforms and simplified processes have helped EPFO become a modern and swift service provider.
