A mother, father, and daughter died in a fire caused by an AC in Faridabad, while the son is critically injured. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Faridabad: A horrific accident occurred in the Greenfield Colony of Faridabad district, Haryana, at 3:45 AM on Monday. A sudden fire broke out due to a short circuit in the split AC installed in the Malik family's home. The fire spread so rapidly that the entire room was filled with smoke, putting the lives of the family members in danger.
In the accident, the parents and daughter lost their lives, while their son, Aryan, was severely injured. Neighbors immediately admitted Aryan to the hospital. The intensity of the fire and the smoke caused panic throughout the family, but it was not possible to escape in time.
Family Suffocated Due to Smoke
Due to the spreading fire and smoke, Sachin Kapoor (50), his wife Rinku Kapoor (48), and daughter Sujaan (23) were trapped in the room. They all tried to escape towards the roof, but as the roof gate was locked, they returned to the room. During this time, they became unconscious due to suffocation from the smoke.
By the time the police and fire brigade teams arrived, the condition of the family members had become critical. They were immediately taken to a private hospital, but doctors declared Sachin Kapoor, Rinku Kapoor, and Sujaan dead.
Son Saved His Life by Jumping from the Balcony
At the time of the accident, 25-year-old Aryan bravely decided to jump from the balcony. He sustained serious injuries upon falling, including injuries to his limbs and body. Neighbors rushed him to the hospital immediately. According to doctors, Aryan's condition is critical, and he is undergoing treatment.
The police stated that Aryan's courage saved his life, otherwise, the entire family could have perished. This accident serves as a warning to people about the safe use of ACs and electrical appliances.
Police and Fire Brigade Investigation
Faridabad police and fire brigade teams reached the scene, doused the fire, and began an on-site investigation. Officials reported that the fire started due to a short circuit, and the lack of adherence to safety regulations exacerbated the damage in the entire incident.
The police met with the families of the deceased to gather initial information and are conducting a thorough investigation into the AC accident. The investigation is also examining whether there was any negligence in the installation and usage of the AC.
