In a joint operation by Delhi Police and Bihar Police in Rohini, Delhi, four criminals, including Ranjan Pathak, the notorious leader of the 'Sigma & Company' gang, were killed. A conspiracy of electoral violence was foiled.

New Delhi: In a joint operation by the Police Crime Branch and Bihar Police in Delhi's Rohini area on Wednesday midnight, there was an encounter with the notorious 'Sigma & Company' gang. During the exchange of fire, gang leader Ranjan Pathak and his three associates were seriously injured. They were immediately taken to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hospital, where doctors declared all four dead.

Police stated that the gang was planning to spread terror in Bihar before the assembly elections, but the police of both states, acting on shared intelligence inputs, thwarted their plans.

Notoriety of Gang Leader Ranjan Pathak

Ranjan Pathak (25 years old) was the gang's chief and a resident of Sitamarhi (Bihar). Other members of the gang included Bimlesh Mahto alias Bimlesh Sahni, Manish Pathak, and Aman Thakur, a resident of Karawal Nagar, Delhi.

In recent years, the gang had committed high-profile murders, including those of Brahmashree Sena chief Ganesh Sharma, Madan Sharma, and Aditya Singh, and had openly challenged the police through social media and audio messages. Gang leader Ranjan Pathak had previously sent his biodata to the media after a notorious murder in Sitamarhi, revealing his sinister plans and notoriety.

Conspiracy to Spread Terror Before Elections

According to the police, the gang had a presence from the Nepal border to Delhi and had carried out several criminal incidents in Bihar. Recently, the police received an audio call from the gang, which revealed their plan to spread terror in the state before the elections.

Delhi Police and Bihar Police had been searching for this gang for a long time. The police of both states, based on shared intelligence inputs, conducted a joint operation and foiled the gang's plans.

Events During the Encounter

The Delhi Police DCP (Crime Branch) stated that the criminals started firing in an attempt to escape between Dr. Ambedkar Chowk and Pansali Chowkat on Bahadur Shah Marg. Police retaliated, resulting in the deaths of all four criminals.

Police have increased security in the area and initiated an investigation at the crime scene. Post-mortems are being conducted on all bodies. The police have stated that continuous vigilance will be maintained against such criminal elements in the future.
