Education News: This is important news for students interested in appearing for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026). IIT Guwahati has extended the final date for application submission to October 13, 2025. Candidates who have paid the late fee can submit their forms by this date. After this, the application portal will be closed. This is the last opportunity for students to participate in this examination.

Late Fee Details

Applicants applying for GATE 2026 now will have to pay a late fee of ₹500. The total application fees are as follows:

General/OBC Category: ₹2,500 (including late fee)

SC/ST/PwD Category: ₹1,500 (including late fee)

Fee payment can only be made online.

Application Process

Applications for GATE 2026 will be completely online. Students must follow the steps below to apply:

  1. First, visit the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in .
  2. On the homepage, click on the "Application Portal" link.
  3. New users will first need to register. Fill in the required information such as name, email, mobile number, etc.
  4. After registration, fill in educational details and other necessary information.
  5. Submit the prescribed fee according to your category.
  6. Submit the completely filled form and keep a printout safe for future reference.

Examination Dates

The GATE 2026 examination will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, at designated examination centers. Admit cards will be available for download a few days before the examination. The declaration of examination results is expected on March 19, 2026.

Eligibility

To apply for GATE 2026, candidates must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Candidates must be studying in the third year or a higher year of an undergraduate degree program.
  • Or possess an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities.
