Gold and silver prices recorded fluctuations in India on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, amid global economic uncertainties, rising tensions in West Asia and the weakening of the Indian rupee against the US dollar. Gold prices registered a marginal increase, while silver prices witnessed a slight decline.

According to experts, gold has remained firm due to global geopolitical tensions and increasing investor preference for safe investment options. Silver prices, meanwhile, have shown limited weakness due to industrial demand and movements in international markets.

Prices of 24-carat, 22-carat and 18-carat gold varied across major cities in the country. In cities including Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur and Gurugram, the price of 24-carat gold crossed ₹1.59 lakh per 10 grams.

In Delhi, the price of gold stood at ₹1,59,530 per 10 grams, while Mumbai recorded ₹1,59,380 and Kolkata ₹1,59,380. In Chennai, gold prices were recorded at ₹1,61,240. Patna reported ₹1,59,430, Lucknow ₹1,59,530, Jaipur ₹1,59,530, Guwahati ₹1,59,380 and Indore ₹1,59,430.

Silver prices registered slight softness during the day, although rates remained elevated. In most cities, including Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, the price of 1 kilogram of silver was recorded at around ₹28.5 lakh.

Silver prices stood at ₹28,500 in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, while Chennai recorded ₹29,000. Lucknow, Jaipur and Ahmedabad reported silver prices at ₹28,500.

According to experts, multiple domestic and international factors are contributing to the rise in gold and silver prices. Ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia have increased uncertainty in global markets, prompting investors to shift towards gold as a safe investment option, thereby supporting prices.

The Indian rupee has continued to weaken against the US dollar. As India is a major importer of gold, a ber dollar increases gold import costs, directly affecting domestic prices.
