Investors are once again turning to safe haven assets, which is directly impacting the prices of gold and silver. Today marks the third consecutive day of rising gold prices. After a day of stability, gold has resumed its upward trend, and prices in major cities across the country have reached new levels.
Gold Becomes More Expensive in Delhi
In the capital city of Delhi, the price of 24-carat gold has increased by ₹10 per ten grams today. Similarly, 22-carat gold has also become ₹10 more expensive. Over the past two days, 24-carat gold in Delhi has risen by up to ₹3,010 per ten grams, while 22-carat gold has seen an increase of ₹2,760. This rise clearly indicates that gold is becoming the preferred choice for investors in the current uncertain market environment.
Geopolitical Tensions Drive Demand
Ongoing geopolitical tensions, global uncertainty, and economic risks at the international level are prompting investors to move from riskier assets like equities to safer options such as gold and silver. This effect is clearly visible in the domestic market. The continuous rise in gold prices for the third consecutive day reflects this trend.
Gold Prices in 10 Major Cities of the Country
Looking at major cities across the country, 24-carat gold is selling at ₹1,38,980 per ten grams in Delhi today. The price of 22-carat gold is ₹1,27,410, and 18-carat gold is ₹1,04,280 per ten grams.
In Mumbai and Kolkata, 24-carat gold is available at ₹1,38,830 per ten grams. In both these cities, 22-carat gold is ₹1,27,260 and 18-carat gold is ₹1,04,130 per ten grams.

Gold prices in Chennai are slightly higher compared to other cities. Here, 24-carat gold is priced at ₹1,39,980 per ten grams, 22-carat gold at ₹1,28,310, and 18-carat gold at ₹1,07,010 per ten grams.
In Bengaluru and Hyderabad, gold prices are similar to those in Mumbai and Kolkata. In these cities, 24-carat gold is ₹1,38,830, 22-carat gold is ₹1,27,260, and 18-carat gold is ₹1,04,130 per ten grams.
Looking at cities in North India, 24-carat gold in Lucknow and Jaipur is ₹1,38,980, 22-carat gold is ₹1,27,410, and 18-carat gold is ₹1,04,280 per ten grams. Meanwhile, in Patna and Ahmedabad, 24-carat gold is ₹1,38,880, 22-carat gold is ₹1,27,310, and 18-carat gold is ₹1,04,180 per ten grams.
Silver Prices Also Continue to Rise
Along with gold, silver prices are also showing consistent strength. After a day of stability, silver has become more expensive for the third consecutive day. In Delhi, one kilogram of silver has risen by ₹12,100 in the last three days.
Previously, silver prices had seen considerable fluctuations. Silver prices remained stable for one day, before which they had fallen by ₹1,000, and before that, silver had become ₹4,000 more expensive in a single day.
Decline at the Start of the Year
The last three trading days of the previous year and the first day of 2026, January 1st, saw a significant decline in silver prices. Silver became approximately ₹24,000 cheaper per kilogram during these four days. However, the market trend has now completely reversed, and silver has shown a b recovery.
Silver Prices Today
Today, January 7th, silver is selling at ₹2,53,100 per kilogram in Delhi. A slight increase of ₹100 per kilogram has been recorded today. Silver is available at the same price in Mumbai and Kolkata.
However, silver is most expensive in Chennai. Here, the price of one kilogram of silver has reached ₹2,71,100. Thus, among the four major metropolitan cities, silver prices are at their highest level in Chennai.
