Greater Noida Police Busts Cannabis Smuggling Ring, Arrests Six

Greater Noida Police have busted a major cannabis smuggling network, arresting six smugglers. The gang was importing cannabis from Shillong, Meghalaya, via courier and supplying it to various areas in Noida, Delhi, and the NCR. The police recovered 41.330 kilograms of cannabis from the accused, estimated to be worth approximately 20 lakh rupees in the market.

Among the arrested are the gang leader, Saransh Srivastava, who holds a B.Tech degree. The other accused include Aman Pal (B.Pharm), Shivam Yadav (BBA), Ashish Kumar Jha and Krishna Rana (12th pass), and Sanjeev Gupta (10th pass). Police say the gang has been supplying cannabis to factories, companies, and school-college students in the NCR for the past year.

Action Near a Dumping Yard

The EcoTech-3 police team was conducting a check on Monday night when they became suspicious upon seeing some youths with cardboard boxes in front of a dumping yard. The police cordoned off the area and apprehended all six youths. Investigations revealed that a total of 41.33 kilograms of cannabis was packed in five boxes, which was to be sold to local retail dealers and students.

Police investigations revealed that the first box contained 19.7 kilograms, the second 6.77 kilograms, the third 5.3 kilograms, the fourth 4.4 kilograms, and the fifth 5.16 kilograms of cannabis. The police separated 200-200 grams of samples from each box, totaling one kilogram of cannabis, as evidence.

Online Delivery Also Offered

The arrested accused lived in rented accommodations in Noida and also supplied cannabis through online channels. All members of the gang worked according to their roles and shared the profits among themselves. Police say the accused also consumed cannabis themselves.

The police are now searching for other people connected to the gang and are examining the call details of all the accused. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and all the accused have been sent to judicial custody. The police claim that the remaining members of this smuggling network will also be arrested soon.
