A major industrial accident has occurred in the Anand district of Gujarat. Two laborers died and two others are in critical condition after being exposed to toxic gas while cleaning a tank at a food processing factory in Sokhda village, Khambhat taluka of the district.

In this tragic incident, 2 laborers died on the spot, while 2 others are in critical condition and have been admitted to the hospital. The accident occurred at the waste treatment plant of Ekta Fresh Food Company, causing chaos throughout the area.
How did the accident happen?
According to police officials, the incident occurred at the waste treatment plant of Ekta Fresh Food Company. In the morning, a 27-year-old laborer named Kishan Baraiya went inside the tank to clean it. Within minutes, he became unconscious due to the toxic gas. When he did not come out, a 63-year-old laborer named Arvind went into the tank to help him, but he too was exposed to the toxic gas. After this, two more laborers tried to save them and they were also affected by the toxic air inside.
Upon receiving the information, other employees of the factory and local people took them out and rushed them to the hospital. But the doctors declared Kishan and Arvind dead. The condition of the remaining two laborers is currently critical and they are undergoing treatment. This accident has become a matter of serious concern for the local administration and the industrial area.
Neglect of safety rules
Initial information revealed in the police investigation indicates that safety rules were not followed during the cleaning of the tank. Neither were adequate safety gear provided to the laborers, nor was the gas checked. Khambhat Rural Police has registered an FIR in this matter and started investigation. Officials have said that due to this negligence, two laborers have lost their lives and the lives of two are in danger.
After the incident, the local administration has issued a notice to the factory management. Along with this, an investigation is being conducted to ascertain whether the company had complied with the industrial safety norms or not. Considering the factory accident as serious, the district administration has ordered strict checking of safety standards in the industrial areas.
