Pakistan: The troubles of jailed Imran Khan continue to mount. Several Pakistani parliamentarians and opposition parties are now openly coming out in support of the army. These leaders have stated that Imran Khan and his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are continuously trying to defame state institutions. According to a Dawn report, PTI is accused of spreading anti-state statements among the public.
Sarfraz Bugti's Serious Allegation
Sarfraz Bugti, Chief Minister of Balochistan and PPP leader, has launched a sharp attack on Imran Khan. He alleged that PTI is engaging in propaganda against the army. According to Bugti, this propaganda aligns with the agenda of hostile agencies and poses a threat to the country's security and stability. He added that statements damaging the army's image cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
ISPR's Remarks Deepen Controversy

This entire controversy began when the ISPR spokesperson, during a press briefing, described Imran Khan as self-obsessed and mentally unstable. ISPR alleged that Imran Khan was destabilizing the security environment by targeting the army. Immediately thereafter, PTI objected to this statement. Following PTI's objection, several parliamentarians and political parties united in support of the army.
Warning of Threat to National Unity
Ahsan Iqbal, Planning Minister in the Pakistan government, stated on the X platform that Imran Khan's statements are highly irresponsible. He wrote that such rhetoric could weaken the country's economy and harm national unity. Iqbal warned that attacking state institutions and the armed forces would erode public trust. He added that the army defends the country's borders, and false statements against it are not in the national interest.
MQM-P Accuses PTI
According to a Dawn report, senior leaders of MQM-P have also reacted bly to PTI. MQM-P Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui alleged that PTI has deviated from the political path. He stated that instead of responding to allegations through judicial or constitutional forums, PTI is resorting to street politics.
