President Droupadi Murmu paid homage to the martyrs at the National War Memorial in Delhi and hosted the traditional ‘At Home’ reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, Chiefs of Staff, and foreign dignitaries attended the event. In his 12th address from the Red Fort, PM Modi announced ‘Mission Sudarshan Chakra’, describing a self-reliant India as the foundation of a developed India, with the aim of further strengthening India's military power by 2035.
Nationwide Celebration on the 79th Independence Day
India celebrated its 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and pride. President Droupadi Murmu hosted the traditional ‘At Home’ reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which was attended by several dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, the Chiefs of the three services, and foreign ambassadors. Prior to this, the President paid tribute to the martyrs at the National War Memorial, where the presence of army officers and ministers, despite heavy rain, made the ceremony even more special.
Homage to Martyrs at the National War Memorial
At the National War Memorial in Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu, along with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and the Chiefs of the three services, paid tribute to the martyrs. During this, two female Air Force officers offered floral wreaths, saluting the sacrifice of the country's brave soldiers.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister Sanjay Seth were also present on the occasion. The ceremony once again conveyed the message that India can never forget the sacrifices and contributions of its martyrs.
PM Modi's 12th Address from the Red Fort
From the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 12th Independence Day address, described ‘Self-reliant India’ as the foundation of a ‘Developed India’. He said that political independence alone is not enough, but self-reliance in every field is necessary so that India's independence remains unwavering.
PM Modi appealed to the countrymen to move forward in the direction of self-reliance and build their own strength. He said that we have to build an India that no power can challenge.
Defense System to be Strengthened with Mission Sudarshan Chakra
In his address, the Prime Minister announced the launch of ‘Mission Sudarshan Chakra’. Inspired by the mythological weapon of Lord Krishna, this mission aims to take India's military capabilities to new heights by 2035.
PM Modi said that under this ambitious plan, India will be able to effectively counter any threat quickly. This initiative is an effort to prepare the country's security system to meet future challenges.
President Murmu's Message
On the eve of Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation. She said that India has emerged from the legacy of poverty and challenges and is now moving rapidly on the path of self-reliance and economic development.
The President expressed confidence that by 2047, India will stand before the whole world as a developed economy. She called upon the countrymen to move forward together and realize the dream of a self-reliant India.
