India's Electronics Exports Surge 45% to $12.4 Billion in FY26 Q1

Despite global trade pressures stemming from US President Donald Trump's tariff announcements, India's electronics exports have grown rapidly. In the first quarter of FY26, these exports increased by 45% to reach $12.4 billion. Smartphone exports played a major role in this, while non-mobile products also made significant contributions.

Electronics Export: Despite the uncertainty in the international trade arena due to tariff-related statements by Donald Trump in the US, India has achieved significant success in electronics exports. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2025-26 (April to June 2025), electronics exports from India surged by 45% to reach $12.4 billion, compared to $8.43 billion in the same period last year. This information was shared by the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA).

Smartphones Become the Engine of Exports

The largest contribution to this export growth came from mobile phone exports, which saw a tremendous leap of 55% year-on-year. In the first quarter of FY26, mobile phone exports reached $7.6 billion, compared to $4.9 billion in the first quarter of FY25. These figures indicate that India is now emerging as a global mobile manufacturing hub.

Smartphone companies have accelerated production in India, with the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme playing a major role behind this. Companies like Apple and Samsung have been shipping their products from India to markets in the US, Europe, Central Asia, and Africa.

Non-Mobile Products Also See Increased Exports

In addition to mobile phones, the category of other electronics products has also seen a rapid increase. In the first quarter of FY26, non-mobile electronics exports increased by 36% to $6.53 billion, compared to $4.8 billion in the first quarter of FY25.

These products include solar modules, switching and routing equipment, chargers, adapters, and other components. This shows that India is now strengthening its global competitiveness not only in mobile manufacturing but also in diverse areas of electronics.

ICEA Calls it a 'Major Achievement'

Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), said that India's achievement is very significant and shows that the country's electronics industry is making its mark on the global stage.

He stated that maintaining this momentum will now be a major challenge. These export figures are certainly encouraging, but the real work now begins — which includes further strengthening the supply chain and increasing value addition.

Figure Could Reach $50 Billion in FY26

ICEA believes that if the current momentum continues, India's electronics exports could reach between $46 and $50 billion by the end of FY26. In FY25, this figure was $38.6 billion, while in FY24 it was $29.1 billion.

This continuous growth is mainly attributed to government policies, the Make in India campaign, and the establishment of manufacturing units in India by global companies.

India's Confidence Despite Global Pressure

While there is concern in Indian industry regarding tariffs and trade barriers proposed by Trump, these export figures demonstrate India's strategic preparedness.

India has strengthened its trade relations with the US and European countries and has established itself in the competition on the strength of the quality, delivery time, and affordable cost of its export products.
