Monsoon Intensifies Across India: Heavy Rainfall and Flood Warnings Issued

The monsoon season has now fully activated across the country, with heavy rainfall intensifying in several states. This torrential rain has caused water levels in rivers to rise to dangerous levels in many areas, raising concerns about potential flooding.

Weather: The monsoon has begun to show its effects in India. Heavy rainfall is occurring in many parts of the country, bringing relief to farmers while also increasing the likelihood of waterlogging, flooding, and lightning strikes in cities and villages. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes in several states for July 10, 2025. Alerts have been issued, particularly for several districts in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Punjab, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

Alert for Heavy Rain with Thunderstorms in Uttar Pradesh

There is a forecast of rain in more than 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh on July 10. Heavy rain and lightning strikes are expected in districts like Lucknow, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Varanasi, Ballia, Agra, Saharanpur, and Gorakhpur. The weather department has also stated that b winds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour may occur in some areas.

People are advised to stay away from open spaces, trees, and iron poles and to heed the weather warnings. While this rain offers relief to farmers cultivating paddy, it could also lead to waterlogging in cities and disruption of electricity supply.

Yellow Alert for 11 Districts of Bihar

The monsoon has also become active in Bihar. The weather department has predicted rain and thunderstorms on July 10 in East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Gaya, Nawada, Jamui, Banka, Munger, and Bhagalpur. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by b winds and thunderstorms, is expected in these areas. The IMD has urged residents of these districts to check the weather updates before traveling and to be prepared for any emergency.

Heavy Rainfall Likely in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Bengal

A warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for Madhya Pradesh between July 10 and 15, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on July 10 and 11, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on July 14 and 15, and Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand from July 10 to 13. Odisha is also expected to experience thunderstorms with heavy rain on July 10.

Agricultural experts believe that this rain will accelerate the sowing of Kharif crops, but continuous rainfall could also damage crops in some areas.

Increased Rainfall Impact in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Kashmir

According to the weather department, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of eastern Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, and Haryana during July 10 to 15. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh from July 10 to 13-15, western Uttar Pradesh from July 10 to 13, and western Rajasthan from July 12 to 15.

Landslides and road blockages may occur in the hilly regions of these states. Therefore, tourists and local people in these areas are advised to be cautious.

Rainfall to Pose Challenges in Gujarat and Maharashtra

Heavy rainfall is expected in the Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat regions from July 10 to 15. Heavy rain may occur in the ghat areas of central Maharashtra on July 10 and in Saurashtra and Kutch on July 12-13. Incidents such as falling trees, traffic jams, and urban flooding may occur during this time. Due to continuous rainfall in many parts of the country, the water levels of major rivers like the Ganga, Yamuna, Narmada, and Tavi have risen. The water levels of rivers in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir have reached near the danger mark.
