India Weather Update: Heavy Rains Lash Several States, Alerts Issued

The monsoon is active across the country, causing heavy rainfall in several states including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Kerala. Delhi-NCR also experienced moderate rainfall, providing relief from the humid heat. 

Weather Update: The monsoon season continues across the country. States including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Kerala are experiencing heavy rainfall. Delhi-NCR also recorded moderate rainfall today. Meanwhile, the weather in many parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar has turned pleasant due to the rain, providing some relief from the humid heat that has persisted for several days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue in Gujarat until August 29th and in southern Rajasthan until August 26th. Furthermore, extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in eastern Rajasthan and northern Gujarat on August 24th.

Delhi-NCR Weather

Delhi and its surrounding areas experienced cloudy skies from Sunday morning, with light to moderate rainfall in several areas. The weather department has warned that the spell of rain and thundershowers is likely to continue over the next few days. According to the weather department, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 22 degrees Celsius. Experts say that the active monsoon is likely to keep the cycle of light to moderate rainfall in Delhi-NCR going for the next week.

Heavy Rain Alert in Uttar Pradesh

The weather in Uttar Pradesh has changed. There is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning in the western and eastern parts of the state on August 24th and 25th. The weather department has also issued an alert for heavy rainfall in some areas on these two days. In addition, rain is likely to continue in almost all places in western UP and in many areas in eastern UP on August 26th. Heavy rainfall is also expected in some parts of the state on August 29th.

Monsoon Activity in Bihar

The monsoon has again taken a turn in Bihar. According to the Meteorological Center, the monsoon trough line is passing through many parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, due to which there is a possibility of rain in the state for the next five days. Especially, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in Kaimur, Aurangabad, Gaya, and Nawada districts. The weather department has issued an orange alert for these districts and advised citizens to exercise special vigilance.

Situation in Uttarakhand and Himachal

Many districts of Uttarakhand are experiencing heavy rainfall. There is a risk of flooding in Almora, Bageshwar, Pauri, and Rudraprayag districts. The weather department has predicted that rain will continue in the state for the next seven days. The monsoon is also active in Himachal Pradesh, and there is a possibility of landslides and road blockages due to heavy rainfall in the hilly areas of the state.

Weather in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan

The weather department said that heavy rainfall is likely in Konkan and central Maharashtra from August 24th to 29th. There is a warning of torrential rain in some areas on August 27th and 28th. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Gujarat till August 29th. At the same time, rain is likely to continue in southern Rajasthan till August 26th. Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of eastern Rajasthan and northern Gujarat on August 24th.

Fishermen have been advised to avoid going into some parts of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal from August 24 to August 28, 2025. This includes: Arabian Sea: Somnia, Oman coast, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and Karnataka coasts Bay of Bengal: Odisha, West Bengal, Bangladesh coast, North and Central Bay of Bengal The weather department has warned that b winds and sea waves may also form in these areas, so fishermen and sailors should exercise extra vigilance.
