Final Scheduled at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final between India and New Zealand will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. India reached the final after progressing through the tournament and will attempt to win another global title, while New Zealand will play with the objective of securing its first T20 World Cup title.
Ahmedabad Venue Previously Hosted India–New Zealand Final
The Ahmedabad venue hosted a final between India and New Zealand last year, when India defeated New Zealand to win the ICC Champions Trophy title. India will attempt to repeat that outcome at the same ground.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav has indicated that there is a low possibility of major changes to the team combination for the final. Opening batter Abhishek Sharma and spinner Varun Chakravarthy have not delivered the expected performances in recent matches. Despite that, the team management may continue to retain them.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir and bowling coach Morne Morkel were seen working on strategy with players during the practice session. Kuldeep Yadav and Rinku Singh are available as options, although the probability of changes to the final playing eleven is currently considered low.
New Zealand Batting Line-up Includes Finn Allen and Tim Seifert
New Zealand’s batting line-up includes aggressive batters. Opener Finn Allen scored a century in the semifinal to help his team secure victory. Tim Seifert also provided a fast start, creating pressure on the opposing team.
Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips are also part of the batting group.
In bowling, New Zealand has Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson.
Jasprit Bumrah Key Component in India Bowling Attack
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will carry a major role in India’s bowling unit. In the semifinal he bowled in the decisive overs, contributing to the result moving in India’s favour. His four overs in the final may also be important.
Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya are expected to bowl in the early overs against the New Zealand openers.
India have been playing with an aggressive batting strategy in recent matches. The batters have focused on team totals rather than individual records. Wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson and all-rounder Shivam Dube played risk-oriented innings in previous matches.
Since the beginning of 2024, India have scored more than 250 runs in T20 internationals five times, which is more than any other team.
