India vs New Zealand T20 World Cup 2026 Final to Mark First ICC Final Across All Three Formats Between the Two Teams

The final of the T20 World Cup 2026 between India and New Zealand will be played on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match will mark the first instance of two teams facing each other in ICC finals across all three formats of the game.

India and New Zealand will become the first pair of teams to have faced each other in the finals of all three ICC formats — Test, One Day International, and Twenty20. No other team combination has previously contested ICC tournament finals across all three formats.

The two sides first met in an ICC tournament final in 2000. That match was the Champions Trophy final, then known as the ICC KnockOut. New Zealand defeated India by four runs to win the title.

In 2021, India and New Zealand played the final of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). New Zealand won that match to secure the championship.

In 2025, the teams met again in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy. India won the match to claim the title.

With the T20 World Cup 2026 final scheduled for March 8 in Ahmedabad, the two teams will complete a record by contesting ICC finals in Test, ODI, and T20 formats.

Preparations for the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium are underway, including arrangements related to stadium capacity, security management, and facilities for spectators.
