Yes Bank Appoints Vinay Muralidhar Tonse as MD and CEO From April 6 2026 After RBI Approval

Yes Bank has appointed Vinay Muralidhar Tonse as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, with effect from April 6, 2026.

The private sector lender informed stock exchanges that the Reserve Bank of India has approved the appointment. Tonse will assume the position for a three-year term.

The bank said the leadership change forms part of its strategic direction aimed at strengthening business growth and institutional leadership.

In a statement, Yes Bank said Vinay Muralidhar Tonse brings extensive experience and leadership capability to the institution. He has worked in the banking sector for more than three decades and has held multiple responsibilities during his career.

The bank said it expects improvements in business and operational strategy under his leadership. It also stated that Tonse is expected to play a role in guiding the bank’s growth initiatives and strategic direction.

According to the bank, his experience across retail banking, corporate credit and international banking is expected to support the institution’s operational and business priorities.

Professional background of Vinay Muralidhar Tonse

Vinay Muralidhar Tonse began his banking career in 1988 as a Probationary Officer at the State Bank of India.

He subsequently held multiple roles within the bank and accumulated extensive experience across several banking functions.

Between November 2023 and November 2025, Tonse served as Managing Director responsible for Retail Business and Operations at State Bank of India. During this period, he worked across areas including corporate credit, international banking, treasury operations, equity portfolio management, retail banking and agriculture banking.

He has also served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at SBI Mutual Fund.

Tonse’s experience spans several core banking segments including corporate credit, international banking and treasury operations. He has also worked in retail banking and agriculture banking functions.
