India vs. Pakistan WCL Match Cancelled After Player Withdrawals

The highly anticipated World Championship of Legends (WCL) match between India and Pakistan, scheduled for Sunday, has been cancelled. The organizers made this decision following the withdrawal of Indian players.

IND-PAK Match: The high-voltage World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 match between India and Pakistan has been cancelled. The reason for the cancellation of this highly anticipated match was the withdrawal of Indian players from the tournament. The organizers confirmed the decision by issuing an official statement and also apologized to cricket lovers of both countries for hurting their sentiments.

There had been a lot of anger on social media for the past several days regarding this contest. Especially after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the tension between India and Pakistan had increased further, due to which Indian fans were completely against this match. Not only this, experienced cricketers from Team India like Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, and Harbhajan Singh had already withdrawn from this match.

Shikhar Dhawan's Clear Message - Nothing is Greater Than the Country

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan clearly expressed his views on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) regarding the boycott of this match. Dhawan wrote, "I stand by the step I took on May 11. My country is everything to me and nothing is greater than the country. Jai Hind." After this statement from Dhawan, he received full support from fans and the cricket fraternity.

The Atmosphere Worsened After the Pahalgam Attack, Fans Erupted in Anger

After the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the relations between India and Pakistan became even more strained. In such a situation, the organization of a major contest like cricket between India and Pakistan was resented by the fans. #BoycottINDPAKMatch started trending on social media against this contest.

This was the reason why several big names from the Indian team in the WCL had already refused to play in this match. This included players like Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa.

WCL Organizers Apologize

The organizers of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) issued an official statement stating that this cricket match was also scheduled after the recent volleyball match between India and Pakistan. But considering the withdrawal of Indian players and the circumstances, the organizers decided to cancel this contest.

The WCL said: "We do not want to hurt anyone's sentiments. Understanding the circumstances surrounding the India and Pakistan match, we have taken this difficult decision." WCL expresses its regret to all cricket lovers. Yuvraj Singh is captaining India in WCL. This contest between India and Pakistan would have been the first match of the tournament for the Indian team, but now after this cancellation, the schedule of the Indian team will be changed.
