Global crude oil price increases have begun to reflect in India, with oil marketing companies revising select fuel prices on March 21, 2026. Prices of premium petrol and industrial diesel have been increased, while retail prices of regular petrol and diesel for consumers remain unchanged.
Following the rise in global crude oil prices, fuel costs have increased across several countries. In India, however, public sector oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, have not revised the prices of regular petrol and diesel as of March 21, 2026.
Premium-grade petrol prices have been increased in the range of ₹2.09 to ₹2.35 per litre. Additionally, the price of bulk diesel sold for industrial use has been raised by approximately ₹22 per litre.
International benchmark Brent Crude prices crossed $115 per barrel at certain points during the week. Ongoing tensions in West Asia and concerns over supply have contributed to volatility in the energy market. Energy experts state that rising crude oil prices increase pressure on economies dependent on imports. India imports a significant portion of its crude oil requirements, leading to a direct transmission of global price movements into the domestic market.
Retail prices of regular petrol and diesel in India remain unchanged. These prices have been largely stable since tax reductions implemented by the central and state governments in 2022. Oil companies revise prices daily at 6 AM based on international benchmarks, the dollar-rupee exchange rate, and applicable taxes.
As of the latest revision, fuel prices in major cities are as follows:
New Delhi – Petrol ₹94.72 | Diesel ₹87.62 per litre
Mumbai – Petrol ₹104.21 | Diesel ₹92.15 per litre
Kolkata – Petrol ₹103.94 | Diesel ₹90.76 per litre
Chennai – Petrol ₹100.75 | Diesel ₹92.34 per litre
Bengaluru – Petrol ₹102.92 | Diesel ₹89.02 per litre
Hyderabad – Petrol ₹107.46 | Diesel ₹95.70 per litre
Jaipur – Petrol ₹104.72 | Diesel ₹90.21 per litre

Ahmedabad – Petrol ₹94.49 | Diesel ₹90.17 per litre
Chandigarh – Petrol ₹94.30 | Diesel ₹82.45 per litre
Nashik – Petrol ₹95.50 | Diesel ₹89.50 per litre
The increase of approximately ₹22 per litre in industrial diesel prices may directly impact transportation, construction and manufacturing sectors. This is expected to raise freight costs and could lead to higher prices for several goods over time.
