The Indian Under-19 cricket team continued their impressive performance on their tour of South Africa, defeating the host team by eight wickets in the second Youth ODI match under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) rule. With this victory, India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Youth ODI series.

Sports News: With the help of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive innings, the Indian Under-19 team defeated South Africa by eight wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis rule in the second Youth ODI match played in Benoni on Monday. Rain interrupted the match, and India was given a revised target of 174 runs in 27 overs to win. Team India achieved this target in 23.3 overs, losing only two wickets, ensuring a comfortable victory.

Rain-Affected Match

In this match played in Benoni, South Africa Under-19 won the toss and chose to bat first. The entire team was all out for 245 runs in 49.3 overs. In reply, when India came out to bat, rain began to disrupt play in the early overs. After the first 11 overs and again after eight balls, the match had to be stopped due to bad weather.

After a considerable delay, when conditions improved, the umpires revised the overs and gave India a revised target of 174 runs in 27 overs. Team India achieved this target in 23.3 overs, losing only two wickets.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Explosive Show

Indian captain Vaibhav Suryavanshi started the innings in a very aggressive manner. He immediately put pressure on the South African bowlers. Vaibhav hit a six in the first over and two sixes in the second over, making his intentions clear. He hit at least one six in almost every over until the seventh over. He completed his half-century in just 19 balls, which came with a six.

Vaibhav played an explosive innings of 68 runs off 24 balls, including 10 sixes and one four. When he was out on the first ball of the eighth over, India’s score had reached 95 runs. His innings almost decided the fate of the match.

Contributions from Other Batsmen

Before Vaibhav, the other opening batsman, Aaron George, was dismissed for 20 runs off 19 balls with the help of three fours. After that, Abhigyan Kundu and Vedant Trivedi took responsibility and steered the team to victory with composure. The two shared an unbeaten partnership of 81 runs. Abhigyan Kundu remained just two runs short of a half-century, scoring an unbeaten 48 runs off 42 balls. Vedant Trivedi played a useful innings of 31 runs off 57 balls.

Earlier, Jason Rovals played a brilliant innings for South Africa, scoring a century. He scored 114 runs off 113 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. However, no other batsman could play a big innings. Daniel Bosman scored 31 runs and Adnan Lagden scored 25 runs, but the team could not cross the 250-run mark.

For India, Kishan Kumar Singh was the most successful bowler, taking four wickets. R. S. Ambresh took two wickets, while Deepesh Devandran, Kanisk Chauhan, and Khilan Patel took one wicket each.
