The second day's play of the second Test match between India and West Indies has concluded. India declared their first innings at a score of 518/5. In response, West Indies have scored 140 runs for four wickets by the end of the day's play.

By the end of the day's play, West Indies have scored 140 runs for four wickets in their first innings and are trailing India by 378 runs. At stumps, Shai Hope (31) and Tevin Imlach (14) are at the crease. For India, Ravindra Jadeja bowled exceptionally well, taking three wickets so far, while Kuldeep Yadav claimed one wicket.

India's First Innings

India won the toss at the start of the match and elected to bat. The opening pair provided a brilliant start. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 58 runs for the first wicket. Rahul was dismissed for 38 runs, while Jaiswal continued his excellent performance, building a b 193-run partnership with Sai Sudharsan. Jaiswal scored 175 runs off 258 balls with the help of 22 fours. However, he missed out on his third double century due to a run-out. 

Subsequently, captain Shubman Gill, along with Dhruv Jurel, added 102 runs, taking the team past the 500-run mark. Gill remained unbeaten on 129 runs off 196 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 16 fours. This is Gill's tenth Test century, and he achieved his fifth century as a captain in this innings. Nitish Reddy scored 43 runs off 54 balls and added 91 runs with Gill for the fourth wicket. As soon as the fifth wicket fell, India declared their innings.

West Indies' Innings 

West Indies scored 140/4 in their first innings by the end of the day's play. Shai Hope (31) and Tevin Imlach (14) are at the crease. India's bowling attack saw an outstanding performance from Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja took three wickets and kept constant pressure on the opposition batsmen. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav claimed one wicket.

For West Indies, John Campbell was dismissed for 10 runs. Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze stabilized the team by adding 66 runs for the second wicket, but Jadeja sent Chanderpaul (34) back to the pavilion. Kuldeep delivered the third blow to West Indies by taking Athanaze's (41) wicket. Subsequently, Jadeja dismissed captain Roston Chase without him opening his account.

On the third day, India will be aiming to wrap up West Indies' innings quickly and secure a significant lead in the match. If the Indian bowlers continue their performance in the same manner, West Indies are likely to be all out soon under pressure.
