Shivarajan and Sudarshan Secure the Lone Gold

India's sole gold medal at the tournament was won by the men's doubles SH6 pair of Shivarajan Solai Malai and Sudarshan Sarvanakumar Muthusamy. While they were scheduled to play against Hong Kong's top-seeded Chu Man Kai and Wong Chun Yim in the final, the Hong Kong team conceded a walkover, gifting India the gold medal. This victory served as a significant morale booster for the Indian contingent.

Silver Lining: Umesh Vikram Kumar and a Young Pair's Strong Fight

Veteran Umesh Vikram Kumar displayed exceptional skill, securing two silver medals for India. He reached the final in the SL3 singles category but narrowly missed the title. He also put up a b performance in the men's doubles, earning another silver. Meanwhile, the pair of Hardik Makkar and Ruthik Ragupati fought valiantly against the experienced Malaysian duo of Chee Lik Hou and Muhammad Fariz Anwar in the SU5 doubles final, ultimately securing silver after a close contest.

Bronze Shine: Krishna Nagar and Other Players' Commendable Contributions

Tokyo Paralympic champion Krishna Nagar won a bronze medal this time. He lost to Brazil's Vitor Tavares in the SH6 singles semi-final. Following the match, he expressed his emotions, dedicating the medal to the brave soldiers guarding the nation's borders. He stated their valor inspires him to continue fighting on the court.

Additionally, several other Indian players secured 14 bronze medals across various categories. This included many emerging talents in both men's and women's singles and doubles events.
