Indian Railways to Launch 150 Puja Special Trains to Accommodate Festive Season Rush

Keeping the convenience of passengers in mind during the festive season, Indian Railways has taken a significant step. To manage the increasing crowd, the railway has announced that a total of 150 Puja special trains will be operated from September 21 to November 30, 2025.

Railway: As the festive season approaches, passenger traffic on trains begins to increase. People travel long distances to celebrate festivals with their families and loved ones. In this context, Indian Railways has taken a significant step to ensure passenger convenience. The railway has announced that a total of 150 Puja special trains will be operated from September 21 to November 30, 2025.

Through these trains, approximately 2024 additional trips have been arranged so that passengers do not face any difficulties in reaching home and can comfortably celebrate major festivals like Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.

Biggest Arrangement for Bihar

Every year, the highest passenger rush is observed for trains going to Bihar. Keeping this in mind, the railway has made special arrangements for Bihar this time. According to the railway's plan, over 12,000 trains will be operated. Many of these trains have already been notified.

East Central Railway (ECR) has decided to operate 14 special trains. These trains will pass through major stations like Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, and Muzaffarpur and will make a total of 588 trips. This will provide significant relief to passengers traveling from big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata to Bihar.

Most Trains for South India

South Central Railway (SCR) is at the forefront this time. SCR will operate a total of 48 Puja special trains, which will originate from major stations like Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Vijayawada. A total of 684 trips will be made through these trains. This arrangement will facilitate passenger convenience by connecting rural and urban areas of South India with major cities.

Special Trains from Kolkata and Mumbai Too

Eastern Railway (ER) has announced the operation of 24 Puja special trains from busy stations like Kolkata, Howrah, and Sealdah, keeping Durga Puja and Chhath Puja in mind. These trains will make 198 trips. Similarly, Western Railway (WR) has planned to operate 24 trains from industrial cities like Mumbai, Surat, and Vadodara. These trains will complete a total of 204 trips. This facility will be particularly useful for passengers traveling to North India and Gujarat.

Focus on South and Other Regions Too

  • Southern Railway (SR) has announced the operation of 10 special trains from Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai, which will make 66 trips.
  • East Coast Railway (ECoR) will run special trains from Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Sambalpur.
  • South Eastern Railway (SER) will cover Ranchi and Tatanagar.
  • North Central Railway (NCR) will operate special trains for the convenience of passengers from Prayagraj and Kanpur.
  • South East Central Railway (SECR) will provide additional services from Bilaspur and Raipur.
  • West Central Railway (WCR) will provide special trains to passengers from Bhopal and Kota during the festivals.

The railway has advised passengers to book their tickets on time through the IRCTC app, the official railway website, or at the nearest railway station.
