Kerala Rocked by Fatal House Explosion, Bus Crash Claims Six Lives

A massive explosion occurred in a rented house late at night in the Kannur district of Kerala, resulting in one death and reducing the entire house to rubble. The sound of the blast spread panic in the area. Meanwhile, six people died and seven were injured in a bus accident on the Karnataka-Kerala border.

Kannapuram: A powerful explosion took place in a rented house in the Kannapuram area of Kannur district on Friday night, killing one person and completely destroying the house. According to the police, the identity of the deceased has not yet been ascertained, and there is suspicion of firecrackers being manufactured. In the meantime, a KSRTC bus skidded off the road due to brake failure on the Karnataka-Kerala border, killing six people, including four members of the same family, and injuring seven passengers.

Powerful Explosion in a Rented House

A devastating explosion occurred in the Keezhara area of Kannur district, Kannapuram, in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. One person died in this blast, and the entire house was reduced to debris. The sound of the explosion was so intense that it caused chaos in the surrounding areas, with people rushing out of their homes in panic.

The police and fire brigade were informed about the incident at 2 AM. Upon reaching the scene, the teams commenced relief operations. The identity of the deceased could not be established as the body was severely damaged. The police are investigating the cause of the explosion and whether anyone else is trapped under the debris.

Police Conducting Investigation

According to local residents, the house where the explosion occurred belongs to a person named Govindan, which he had rented out to a person named Anoop. However, the identity of the deceased is still not clear. Villagers claim that firecrackers were being manufactured in the house and it is possible that the explosion was caused by the detonation of an improvised explosive device (Gundu).

The police are investigating all aspects and a forensic team has also been called. Clues from the scene have been secured to determine whether the blast was an accident or the result of a conspiracy.

Six Lives Lost in Bus Accident

Meanwhile, a major road accident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Talapady, adjacent to the Karnataka-Kerala border. A KSRTC bus traveling from Kasaragod to Mangaluru experienced brake failure and collided with the bus stand and an auto-rickshaw. Six people died in this accident, including four members of the same family and a minor girl.

The accident took place at 1:15 PM, and the suddenness of the incident caused panic throughout the area. Seven people were injured and are all undergoing treatment at a local hospital. The police have initiated a preliminary investigation, and the transport department is examining the technical faults of the bus.
