The incident occurred near Sanganer Stadium in Jaipur at around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday night, when a speeding car collided from behind with a family travelling on a motorcycle. The 35-year-old father and his three-year-old daughter died, while his wife and son sustained serious injuries.
According to police, the car was travelling from Chaurdiya Petrol Pump towards Sanga Setu Pulia when it hit the motorcycle carrying the family. The impact threw all four family members onto the road, leaving them seriously injured.
Police teams reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and took all four injured persons to hospital. Doctors declared Vishnu, aged around 35 and a native of Bharatpur who was residing in Jaipur's Durgapura area, and his three-year-old daughter Shrishti dead. Their bodies were kept in the mortuary of Jaipuria Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Vishnu's wife and son were admitted to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur for treatment. Police said their condition remained serious and they were being treated under medical supervision.
After the collision, the car driver allegedly attempted to flee from the scene. Police said that while fleeing towards Sanganer police station, the driver hit around six other vehicles, including a scooter, near LMB intersection.
Following the information, police set up barricades in nearby areas and began pursuing the car. The driver was apprehended near Haldighati Gate, and the car involved in the accident was seized.
Police also inspected the accident site and collected evidence. The motorcycle and car were taken into custody as part of the investigation.
According to preliminary information, the car's high speed is being considered a possible cause of the accident. Police said the actual circumstances of the collision and the speed of the car would be established through a detailed investigation.
Police are also examining the driver's condition at the time of the accident, why he allegedly attempted to flee after the collision, and the documents related to the car and driver.
The investigation also covers the collisions involving around six other vehicles after the initial accident. Investigating agencies are examining the circumstances in which the driver lost control of the vehicle. CCTV footage from nearby cameras may also be examined to establish the sequence of events before and after the accident.
Malpura Gate police have started an investigation into the case. The driver has been detained, and police are examining the circumstances of the accident and the events that followed.
