Jaunpur. With two more cases reported in the district, the number of dengue victims has risen to 55. The health department is keeping a close watch on the situation and has appealed to people to maintain cleanliness.

On Tuesday, one patient was found in Kerakat and another in the Dobhi area. So far, 10 patients have emerged in the urban area, while 55 cases have been recorded in Kerakat and Dobhi.

It was stated that a total of 55 dengue patients have been reported since January. The affected blocks are as follows:

Jaunpur Municipality: 10 cases

Kerakat & Dobhi: 55

Badlapur, Suithakala: 44

Jalalpur, Karanjakala, Muftiganj: 33

Baksa, Khutahan, Sujanganj, Rampur: 22 patients

Dengue is an infectious viral disease that spreads through the bite of the female Aedes mosquito. This mosquito lays its eggs in places where water accumulates — such as cooler trays, flower pots, buckets, tanks, open water tanks on roofs, etc.

Mosquitoes often hide in damp, dark, and dirty places — such as under the house, behind wardrobes, amidst junk, etc.

It is extremely important to clean and spray insecticide in such places.
