Father Breaks Silence on Espionage Charges Against Jyoti Malhotra

The arrest of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra on charges of alleged espionage for Pakistan has raised several questions, and now the case has taken a new turn. Jyoti's father, Harish Malhotra, has questioned the police investigation by writing to the President, Prime Minister, and Union Home Minister.

What Was Written in the Letter?

In the letter, Harish Malhotra has claimed that his daughter is innocent. He stated that the police forcibly pressured Jyoti into signing blank papers. This action is not only unethical but also a violation of a citizen's fundamental rights. He has urged that an impartial investigation be conducted into the entire matter so that the truth can come to light.

Police Could Not Present Any Concrete Evidence

The letter also mentions that the police have not yet been able to present any concrete evidence in court to prove that Jyoti has committed a serious crime like treason. Harish Malhotra said that the entire family has been mentally disturbed since his daughter's arrest.

Demand for a Polygraph Test

Jyoti's father has specifically demanded in the letter that his daughter be given a polygraph test. According to him, if the investigating agencies have doubts, there should be verification using scientific methods. A polygraph test can clearly reveal the difference between truth and falsehood.

Next Hearing on August 18th

The next hearing in this case is scheduled for August 18th. Advocate Kumar Mukesh, the lawyer for the accused, stated that 90 days will be completed in this case on August 15th. In such a situation, it is legally mandatory for the police to file a charge sheet within 90 days. If this does not happen, the accused may be entitled to bail.

Started Blogging Career After the Covid Period

Harish Malhotra also clarified his daughter's background in the letter. He said that Jyoti used to work in a private company in Noida, but during the COVID-19 pandemic, the company terminated her job due to cost-cutting measures. After this, she started blogging and started running a YouTube channel called 'Travel With Jo'.

Went to Pakistan on a Religious Pilgrimage

The letter also stated that Jyoti did not visit Pakistan under any secret agenda, but rather she went to visit the Gurdwara through the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. For this, she had applied for a valid ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) in the year 2023 and traveled under the procedure approved by the government.

What is the Whole Matter?

The Civil Line Police Station arrested YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, a resident of New Agrasen Colony, on May 16, 2025, on charges of spying for Pakistan. On May 17, the police produced her in court and took her on a five-day remand. During this time, the police seized Jyoti's laptop, mobile, and some other documents.

During the remand, Jyoti was interrogated by various investigating agencies and police from other states.
