Residents of Delhi may face some travel disruptions on the morning of Tuesday, August 5th. The Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory for the period between 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM, implementing traffic restrictions and diversions in several key areas of the capital. In particular, vehicular movement will be affected on major routes in Central Delhi such as Delhi Gate, Rajghat, ITO Chowk, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, MGM, and IP Marg.
The Traffic Police have appealed to people to keep the issued advisory in mind while planning their journeys and to use alternative routes to avoid unnecessary delays or inconvenience.
Which areas will have traffic diversions?
According to the Traffic Police, traffic restrictions will be in place on both the carriageways and service roads around W-Point, A-Point (ITO Chowk), BSZ Marg, Delhi Gate, JLN Marg, Rajghat Crossing, MGM, and IP Marg due to an emergency situation in the capital. Vehicular movement will be limited in these areas, and adherence to diversions will be mandatory.
Commuters are advised to avoid traveling on these routes and to use alternative routes. They are also urged to refrain from going out unnecessarily.
Parking completely prohibited in these places
On August 5th, the Delhi Traffic Police have also taken a strict stance on parking. Parking of any kind of vehicle will be prohibited on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, and the stretch of Ring Road from Shanti Van via Rajghat to IP Marg. In addition, both carriageways of IP Marg and associated flyovers will also be closed.
The Traffic Police have clarified that illegally parked vehicles on these roads will be removed from the spot, and legal action will be taken against the concerned vehicle owners.
Important advice for vehicle drivers
The Traffic Police have appealed to all vehicle drivers to maintain patience and follow traffic rules. They have also been instructed to follow the directions of the police personnel deployed at major intersections.
Earlier, due to repair work on the Sarita Vihar Flyover (from Badarpur towards Ashram), half of the carriageway has been closed from July 25th to August 8th, while the remaining part will remain partially open. Passengers have been advised to plan an alternative route in advance.
Traffic Prahari App Relaunched
To further improve the traffic system, the Delhi Traffic Police have relaunched the 'Traffic Prahari' mobile app. Through this app, ordinary citizens can report traffic violations. Citizens will also be given cash rewards for verified complaints, which will ensure better compliance with traffic rules through public participation.
