This report was prepared after a judicial inquiry into the incident, which clearly held negligence in the organization and serious security lapses responsible.
What did the Minister say?
H. K. Patil said, "The cabinet has accepted Justice D'Cunha's report and has decided to take legal action based on it. This will include action against private organizations such as the RCB franchise, KSCA, and DNA Entertainment Networks." He also clarified that departmental inquiries would be initiated against the officials involved in the incident. The report lists the names of all individuals and organizations deemed responsible for the stampede and negligence.
How did the incident happen?
The incident occurred on June 4th when a victory procession and celebration were organized at the Chinnaswamy Stadium by RCB following their impressive performance in IPL 2025. The event was heavily promoted, but the security arrangements proved to be extremely weak. Thousands of people gathered outside the stadium without any clear guidance, leading to a sudden stampede. Due to the failure of the police and organizers, many people were crushed, resulting in the death of 11 people.
Government's action so far
Immediately after the incident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered a judicial inquiry on June 5th. In addition, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda and Additional Police Commissioner (West) Vikas Kumar were suspended. Now, the process of taking concrete legal action is being initiated based on the judicial inquiry report.
